On April 17, a valuable member of the IT Security Team left to advance his career in programming. Though the team will miss him greatly, Andrew Lamoureux has accepted an excellent offer from Citrix Systems Inc. in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Andrew Lamoureux moved from Jacksonville to attend UF in 2002. In 2004, he earned a Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering and in fall of 2005 he earned his Masters of Engineering.

He started working for the UF IT security team in Spring 2004 as an IT Security Programmer, for which he primarily did programming and web development. This job extended his knowledge of the underlying protocols of the Internet and how servers and their services are maintained in the real world. Lamoureux said one of the main reasons he enjoyed his position was because of the autonomy and freedom given to him when deciding how his assignments would be implemented.

Lamoureux implemented several applications around the Remedy ticketing system, an interface to a security scanner that can be used anywhere on campus, and other various monitoring tools.

When not on the computer, Lamoureux spends his free time with his girlfriend Rachel, target shooting, and gazing at his planted aquarium. He said his hope is to one day produce something that a lot of people use and/or are benefited by. We know he will be given much-wanted challenges at Citrix and achieve great success wherever future jobs may lead him.
