UF IT Security logo Unit Information Security Administrators (ISAs) will not have to wonder how they compare to other University of Florida units when it comes to the number of incidents and vulnerabilities. Starting this summer, the UF IT Security Team will be mailing incident and vulnerability reports to Unit ISAs.

Part of the report contains graphs that represent the number of incidents and vulnerabilities the unit had for the past semester in comparison to the top five units with the highest number of incidents. The four graphs included in the report will show analysis of tickets created by date, number of open tickets, average response time and vulnerabilities detected during the time frame of January 1 to April 30.

"These reports are intended to help units understand their weaknesses so that they determine where to target improvements to their information security program." said Kathy Bergsma, UF Information Security Manager (ISM).

Not all incidents and vulnerabilities are detected by the security team so it is suggested that campus units maintain their own systems to detect incidents and vulnerabilities in their network.

Two copies of the letter and the graphs will be sent to the Unit ISAs. One copy is for the ISA and the other copy is for the Unit ISM. Both copies will be sent to the ISA who is expected to supply one copy to the ISM, with the intention of prompting discussion between these key decision makers. These reports serve to supplement data within each unit to help make decision regarding their information security program.

All ISAs should be on the look out for these letters in their mailboxes during the first week of June. More information and inquires can be directed to ufirt@ufl.edu.
